OUR DONORS ARE PRE-SCREENED
We do our best to pre-screen our donors by referring them to family physicians, infertility specialists, and/or psychologists for interview and testing, if applicable, so our donors have been approved by a physician for general fitness before we begin the matching process. Even though not all potential disqualifying events can be discovered at this stage, this step greatly reduces the likelihood that your matched donor would be disqualified during the medical or psychological screening process.

HELPFUL INFORMATION
THE PROCESS OF DONOR-IVF
Egg donation involves the deliberate use of eggs provided by a donor for IVF and subsequent transfer of the embryo to a matched and synchronized recipient. Before an egg donor cycle can proceed, the egg donor needs to undergo extensive medical infectious disease screening, psychological screening, genetic testing, and signing of legal contract to protect both parties. Once embryo transfer is done, the pregnancy is maintained by hormone replacement until the placenta is fully functional, which may take between eight to twelve weeks. After the first trimester, the pregnancy can usually progress without need for exogenous hormone support.After the delivery of the baby, the mothers can often breast feed no different than
spontaneous conceptions.

ANONYMOUS VS. NON-ANONYMOUS
In the United States, most egg donor programs are anonymous. A recipient also has the options of bringing a known donor, who may be a family member or a friend. In these cases, most of the medical screening is still necessary, with a few exemptions, but a legal contract between the recipient (intended parent) and the donor would become even more important, to spell out parental responsibilities and the parties' intent. You will be referred to an attorney who specializes in Third Party Reproduction to discuss any potential legal issues.
